French provinces Maio 26, 2008
Posted by Will in : Viagem , trackbackAfter having spent several vacations in Paris, my friends and I finally decided to venture out into the French provinces and countryside and enjoy a magnificent experience renting a holiday gite outside of the city. First of all we headed to Calvados, which is in the French province of Normandy. This was late last December, and we were lucky to find such a great deal online. Here we were really able to delve into the essence of provincial French culture, with the slower pace of life along with the charming dialect of the language and the regional foods and culture.
Before we headed home we decided to rent another holiday gite, and we were equally as impressed. This time we stayed in Nievre, which is in the Burgundy region. The wine there was positively superb, as was the local cuisine and the friendly residents who seemed to be the polar opposite of their rushed and often rude Paris counterparts. Burgundy was absolutely breathtaking this time of year, and we feel that we finally came home from a French vacation completely relaxed and more enriched in several ways than our previous visits to just the capital city.
